Scout Hall presents Mike Zito live on November 29th!
Mike Zito is a powerhouse in the contemporary blues scene, renowned not only for his fiery guitar work and soulful songwriting but also for his unwavering authenticity and emotional honesty. In the past decade, Zito has experienced a career renaissance marked by critical acclaim, award-winning albums, and influential collaborations.
His 2018 release Make Blues Not War debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Blues Chart, earning him the Blues Music Award for Rock Blues Artist of the Year. He followed with First Class Life and Rock 'n' Roll: A Tribute to Chuck Berry, both topping the charts and showcasing his reverence for blues roots.
In 2019, Zito co-founded Gulf Coast Records, amplifying his impact by producing and supporting a diverse roster of blues and roots artists. During the pandemic, he released Quarantine Blues, and in 2021, the deeply personal Resurrection, which won the 2022 Blues Rock Album of the Year.
Zito continued his momentum with Blues for the Southside (2022), a live album recorded in his hometown of St. Louis, and launched the Blood Brothers project with Albert Castiglia. Their 2023 studio album, produced by Joe Bonamassa and Josh Smith, received widespread acclaim and led to Blood Brothers: Live in Canada later that year.
In 2024, Mike Zito won two Blues Music Awards in Memphis: Blues Rock Artist of the Year and Blues Rock Album of the Year for Blood Brothers. That same year, Zito, Castiglia, and bluesman Jimmy Vivino joined forces with actor Bill Murray to form Bill Murray & His Blood Brothers. The group made their debut in September 2024 at the Big Blues Bender in Las Vegas, where they performed a magical set blending covers and originals. The collaboration blends Murray’s unique charm with Zito and Castiglia’s blistering guitar work, delivering a one-of-a-kind blues-rock experience. Since early 2025, the group has continued to perform together, captivating audiences with their dynamic and unexpected synergy.
In 2025, Zito once again earned the Blues Music Award for Blues Rock Album of the Year with Life Is Hard, a poignant tribute to his late wife Laura that resonated deeply with fans and critics alike.
With a relentless touring schedule, a growing list of musical ventures, and a deep commitment to heartfelt, no-fluff songwriting, Mike Zito remains a defining force in modern blues—unfiltered, unflinching, and always evolving.
